Another year, another game developer conference. This was the first time I attended Devcom, and I have to say it’s a pretty good replacement for the now defunct GDC EU. There’s a decent selection of speakers, and the attendees come from all sectors of the games industry which gives the event a slightly less corporate feeling. The on-site catering service is still pretty lackluster though, and I sorely miss Respawn.
Nintendo went above and beyond porting Mario Kart 8 to the Switch, and despite the impressive amount of polish I can still clearly recognize the game I fell in love with all those years ago. This is without a doubt the definitive Mario Kart experience: Pure, simple and fun.(more…)
War Wings claims to be a fully fledged arcade flying game for mobile. I was certainly intrigued, having been a massive War Thunder fan myself. Unfortunately, this game also reminded me of why I don’t get invested in mobile games.(more…)

There is one thing I cannot stand in video games. Bad UX, or more specifically, wasting time. Some might say video games themselves are a waste of time, but I’ll have you know there’s a large difference between a 2 hour raid and spending 2 hours opening 100 loot boxes, which I’d like to showcase in some of my biggest pet peeves in this category.(more…)
